i bought a lenox lt92 to replace it with. this torch is not advertised correctly. this torch is more expensive, but it wii do the job excellent. it says that it is high output, but it is not. it will not get hot enough to solder 2 inch copper tubing. the other torch is good enough fof the homeowner. thats about it.
Great product, while a friend was at my house,I ran the torch for about 25 seconds thenshut the unit off and grabbed the end real fast,Then I screamed in burning pain (although it was cool). That justified half the cost of the unit right there. This item stays cool to the touch, which is great for lighting Fireworks.
plumber ten years.Love this torch, all the boys have em now. auto light is key, and has been working for three years now on my first one.I have three. wont "waste" gas, is completely dissasemblable for complete cleanings, heavy cast body will take a heavy fall, or ten, and with no sign of problems. Better than my $70 Turbotorch.
THis product is great but.the detailed description said that the propane tank was included but it is NOT.
And just in case I want to cool things down a bit, this torch with propane is still far superior to the old torches I've used in the past. In older basements where all of the copper is suspended overhead next to the floor joists - and next to old batted insulation that will flame like pine-resin kindling, this allows me a little more security.
Helpful reviews by professionals like those offered by Victor, "remodeling-guy" are invaluable to the homeowner. Occasional plumbing repairs are one thing, but if you are facing a major project like replacing all of the copper pipe in an older home, this torch will save a tremendous amount of time.
For a homeowner who has used nothing but a standard propane-bottle torch for years, upgrading to this BernzoMatic torch with Mapp gas was like stepping up from a hacksaw to a lithium-powered reciprocating saw. Not being a professional - and not having the luxury of a fire station next door - I always place flexible, quilted-metal insulation around the work area.
It takes a bit of getting used to. Safety was my main concern due to the increased ambient heat generated at the work spot.
Workable fire extinguishers are a must.
